Sucessão de números reais não nulos em que o quociente da divisão de qualquer termo (a partir do segundo) pelo antecedente é sempre o mesmo, ou seja, é constante (razão da progressão). Exemplo: (1, 5, 25, 125, 625...) (a razão é 5, pois esse é o resultado da divisão de qualquer número dessa sucessão, a partir do segundo, pelo seu antecedente)
Existem progressões geométricas constantes (termos todos iguais), crescentes, decrescentes, oscilantes (termos consecutivos sempre com sinais opostos) e quase nulas (o primeiro termo não é zero, mas todos os demais sim).
