This is a rare disorder of lymphatic drainage. It presents with thickened,slow growing,yellow nails which may be associated with pleural effusion,bronchiectasis and lymphoedema of the legs.

A hereditary disease that appears usually in early childhood, inherited as an autosomal recessive monogenic trait. Involves functional disorder of the exocrine glands; the digestion is complicated by a deficiency of pancreatic enzymes; breathing is made difficult by mucus accumulation in airways; there is also excessive loss of salt in the sweat. It is called also fibrocystic disease of the pancreas, mucoviscidosis.

The presence of different alleles at one or more loci on homologous chromosomes.
