Alzoc III, located in the Alzoc system in the Outer Rim, is the home planet of the alien species known as the Talz, and is the source of Alzoc pearl. The moonless planet is covered with desolate, frozen plains and its powerful sunlight glares harshly off the reflective snow. The Empire garrisoned Alzoc III in a secret operation and forced the Talz to work as slaves in underground mines. The planet was never entered into the galactic registry, and the New Republic only learned of its existence through examining restricted corporate files. Imperial Commander Pter Thanas was assigned to the rim world of Bakura after refusing to destroy a village of Talz miners on Alzoc III. The Imperial battlemoon Eye of Palpatine stopped at the frozen planet to pick up a contingent of stormtroopers, but brought in a group of Talz instead. [TAB, GG4, COTJ]

Altor 14, a dry, hot world of rock and sand, orbits the Roti-Ow binary star system and was only recently discovered by a mineral company. Because of its long rotational period (94 hours), all standing water evaporates on the planet's surface during the day. Taproot trees and tarpaulin plants are found on the surface, each with its own unique way of obtaining water. The Avogwi (Altorian Birds) and Nuiwit (Altorian Lizards) are native to this planet, though it is the peaceful Nuiwit who possess the social and technical skills to build advanced societies and participate in galactic trade. The carnivorous, aggressive Avogwi may eventually be forced from the planet's surface by the ever-expanding communities of the Nuiwit. Some Avogwi were drug- and mind-controlled by Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader to serve as enclosure guards. [GG4, COTJ]

French family of goldsmiths and bronze-founders. Members of the Ballin family were active in Paris from the 16th century to the 18th. Claude Ballin (i) (b Paris, 3 May 1615; d Paris, 22 May 1678) became a master goldsmith in 1637. He was granted lodgings in the Louvre, Paris, before 1671 and became Orfèvre Ordinaire du Roi. Nicknamed ‘the Great Ballin', he was one of the most prominent French goldsmiths of the 17th century. He worked extensively for Louis XIV, providing an enormous quantity of silver and silver-gilt objects, including vases, bowls, display stands and incense-burners that formed part of the silver furnishings (destr. 1690) of the château of Versailles. Ballin's work in the classical style also included ecclesiastical pieces (untraced) for the cathedrals of Paris and Reims that are known from numerous drawings (Berlin, Kstbib. & Mus.; Stockholm, N. Mus.; Beauvais, Archvs Dépt.), and which also feature in some wall-hangings, for example the History of the King and the Royal Houses. Some of his works influenced the bronzework of André Charles Boulle. Ballin was succeeded in his appointment as Orfèvre Ordinaire du Roi by Nicolas de Launay, his nephew by marriage.

When the Centauri's opened fire at Babylon 5 Sheridan was forced to return fire. With the help of the new installed defense-grid and the Starfury squadrons stationed at Babylon 5 the Centauri cruiser was destroyed. The G'Tok was escorted to the hyperspace jumpgate and managed to escape the battle.
The Centauri were outraged by this. They wanted Capt. Sheridan's apology in front all other alien ambassadors. Sheridan was forced to do this.
"Ahem... I apologize. I'm sorry. I'm sorry we had to defend ourselves against an unwarranted attack. I'm sorry that your crew was stupid enough to fire on a station filled with a quarter million civilians including your own people. And I'm sorry I waited as long as I did before I blew them all straight to hell. As with everything else it's... the thought that counts."
- Sheridan's apology, "The Fall of Night"
But before Sheridan could "deliver" his apology he was a victim of an attack. Two Centauri placed a bomb in the core shuttle Sheridan was using to get to the other ambassadors.

Sheridan jumped out of the core shuttle before the explosion. Minbari Ambassador Delenn convinced the Vorlon Ambassador Kosh to help Sheridan. Kosh left his encounter suit and flew like an angel to Sheridan. All those present ambassadors and people saw a being of light that guided Capt. Sheridan back to the ground. Only Centauri Ambassador Londo Molari saw nothing.
Lt. Keffer, squadron leader of the Starfuries that escorted the G'Tok, went on a "private" mission to search for an unknown vessels in hyperspace. He found the ship he was searching for. The Shadow-Battlecrab noticed his Starfury and destroyed the ship. He managed to launch a distress beacon with a record of the encounter.
"It was the end of the Earth year 2259 and the War was upon us. As anticipated a few days after the Earth/Centauri treaty was announced, the Centauri widened their war to include many of the Non-Aligned Worlds. And there was another War brewing closer to home. A personal one whose cost would be higher than any of us could imagine. We came to this place because Babylon 5 was our last, best hope for peace. By the end of 2259 we knew that it had failed. But in so doing it became something greater our last best hope for... victory. Because sometimes peace is another word for surrender... and because secrets have a way of getting out."
- Commander Susan Ivanova's closing statement, 2259, "The Fall of Night"
